Accessibility at the OLT
Every reasonable effort is made to ensure programs and services are available to patrons, members, and volunteers who have physical, visual, verbal or auditory disabilities.
Accessing the theatre
- The Besserer St. entrance provides direct step-free access to the auditorium and is wheelchair accessible
- Volunteers are available at all entrances to welcome patrons and guide them to their seats
- A support person accompanying a patron with a disability also requires a ticket
- Service animals are welcome
- Six wheelchair seating locations have been established in compliance with the fire code. The box office will explain availability and every effort will be made to seat a support person as close as possible to the patron
- The auditorium slopes downward to the stage so take care going to and from your seat
- Wheelchair ramps are available upon request
- For safety, walkers must not block fire exits. An usher will store your walker nearby and return it to you at intermission and after the show
Washrooms
- Two fully accessible washrooms are located inside the Besserer St. entrance
Assistive Listening
- The OLT offers traditional assistive listening devices (newly upgraded in October 2026) which can be borrowed from the desk in the upper lobby or at the Besserer St entrance free of charge.
- The OLT is proud to offer (also new as of October 2026) next-generation assistive listening using Bluetooth® Auracast™ broadcast audio. This system beams crystal-clear, studio-quality stage audio directly to compatible hearing aids, cochlear implants, and wireless earbuds.
- The Closed Captioning (CC) that was tested during the 2025 season was not as successful as hoped and has been discontinued. CC may return in the future if improvements can be made.
Getting to the theatre
- Parking lots and street parking are available near the theatre. See Parking for options.
- Para Transpo is a city transportation service which must be booked at least one day before the performance. You’ll be dropped off at the Besserer St. entrance.
