imgresThe Ottawa Little Theatre is pleased to welcome playwright Dan Needles to our stage for a Talk Back after the September 19 performance of Perils of Persephone.  Dan is one of Canada’s favourite playwrights – having brought to life the many memorable characters in his Wingfield series starring Ron Beattie.  Thousands of audiences have enjoyed Dan’s ability to portray the small farm wisdom and wry wit embodied in such gentle characters as Walt and Maggie, their neighbour Freddy, and the many others that populate Persephone County in the Wingfield series.  In 2003 he won the Leacock Medal for Humour for his book With Axe and Flask, the History of Persephone Township from Pre-Cambrian Times to the Present.  His latest book Wingfield’s World, a novelization of all seven Wingfield plays, was released in October, 2011. Dan’s other plays include The Perils of PersephoneEd’s Garage, Team on the Hill and The Last Christmas Turkey.  His play Perils of Persephone gives us the same dry humour, pitching rural common sense against the seemingly wag-the-dog approach to provincial politics.   Please join us for a lively discussion in which Dan will talk about his characters and the creative process he uses to develop them.
