Theatre Ontario Festival

Season 104
May 17 to May 21, 2017

In 2017, the Ottawa Little Theatre hosted the Theatre Ontario Festival for the first time since the festival began in 1973. Theatre Ontario came into existence shortly after the demise of the national Dominion Drama Festival which had begun at the Little Theatre in 1933 and continued until 1970.

The theatre companies invited to the Theatre Ontario Festival are the Best Production winners of the four regional Ontario festivals. On this occasion they were:

Wed. May 17 - EODL (Eastern Ontario): Northumberland Players (Cobourg) with "Waiting for the Parade" by John Murrell.

Thur. May 18 - WODL (Southwestern Ontario): Ghost Light Players (Windsor) with "Better Living" by George F. Walker

Fri. May 19 - ACT-CO (Greater Toronto Area and Central Ontario): Toronto Irish Players with "Outside Mullingar" by John Patrick Shanley.

Sat. May 20 - QUONTA (Northeastern Ontario) Sault Theatre Workshop (Sault Ste. Marie) with "Lucy" by Damien Atkins.

At the Awards Brunch on Sunday, May 21, "Outside Mullingar" was named Best Production.
