The Workshop; EODL 1939 Regional Festival entry (one-act)

This performance of "Pipistrelle of Aquitaine", written by local playwright Munro MacLennan, opened the Ottawa City Drama Festival (Jan. 19-21) along with two other one-act plays. It had been originally performed with a different cast in April 1938 after winning the 2nd edition of the ODL's National Playwriting Competition that year.

The 1939 production went on to represent the ODL in the Eastern Ontario Regional Drama Festival (Feb. 2-4, 1939) in Kingston where it was performed on February 3.

It was shut out of the awards, but the ODL's "French Without Tears" won best full-length production and went on to the Dominion Drama Festival in London, ON, the following April, where it won Best Production.
