Season 25
Apr 28, 1938

original production

This one-act play was 1st Prize Winner of the 2nd Playwriting Competition in 1938. It was performed together with two other non-Ottawa Drama League plays on the first night of the Ottawa City Drama Festival which ran from Apr. 28-30. It received high praise from adjudicator Malcolm Morley who declared it to be better than any of the 12 original plays he had adjudicated for presentation in the finals of the Dominion Drama Festival, but Pipistrelle had not been entered. It was performed again in Jan. 1939 at the Ottawa City Drama Festival, but was not adjudicated at that time because it had already been chosen as the ODL's entry into the EODL Festival in Kingston where it was performed on Feb. 3, 1939. It was performed again in 1949 and 1958.
