Orléans, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 – This morning Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament for Ottawa–Orléans, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced that Ottawa Little Theatre will receive $159,000 in funding through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

The funds will be put toward Act IV of Ottawa Little Theatre’s Renew the Building Capital Campaign. The final act in a four-part project to rejuvenate OLT’s 43-year-old facility will make public areas more accessible and renovate service areas to better serve volunteers, patrons and visitors. This includes new wheelchair seating in the auditorium, a redesign of the Besserer Street entrance and accessible washroom, and renovations in the main lobby, kitchens, and offices.

With the new funds OLT’s Renew The Building Capital Campaign total leaps up to $668,000. A total of $975,000 is needed to complete all the work planned over the four acts of the Renew the Building project.

This announcement is one of many for projects approved through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program that will improve and preserve community spaces across southern Ontario, with the aim of giving back to Canadians and creating a lasting legacy as Canada prepares to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.

The program is expected to boost economic activity through infrastructure investments, build community-based partnerships and modernize existing community facilities.
