In a time where laughter is needed more than ever, Canadian stand-up comedians Daryn Jones and Dave Merheje are rising to the challenge and bringing their stand-up comedy to the Ottawa Little Theatre (OLT).
Comedian Daryn Jones became a staple of Canadian television in 2006 when took on the role of host and creative producer of MTV Canada’s flagship series, MTV Live. During his six years on MTV he became known for his sharp wit and infectious energy, interviewing Hollywood heavyweights such as Tom Cruise and Quentin Tarantino. Prior to MTV, the Victoria, BC native co-hosted the Gemini award-winning Buzz on the Comedy Network and was a writer and on-air correspondent on the CBC’s Rick Mercer Report. A Stand up for over 15 years, Daryn has toured the country headlining comedy clubs, colleges and festivals
“It’s well known that our nation’s capital is at its best in the month of March,” said Jones. “It’s a perfect time for everyone to leave their cozy suburban dwellings in Kanata and Orleans and come down to the Little Theatre for a night of juggling and comedy. Also, please note that there will be no juggling.”
Originally from Windsor, ON, Dave Merheje took the comedy world by storm in 2011 winning Just For Laugh’s Irwin Barker Homegrown Comic Award and NOW Magazine’s Best Male Stand-up. A Canadian Comedy Award-nominee for Best Stand-up in 2012 and featured as an on-air contributor on MTV Live, Merheje is making waves as one of the edgiest comics in the country today. Drawing from his Lebanese-Canadian perspective and personal experiences straight from the streets, Merheje is unfettered by political correctness. His “no fear” approach to comedy has gained a loyal following. Pure raging energy, he is electric, aggressive and in-your-face. Nothing is sacred.
Former MTV personalities offer Ottawa unique double bill headline stand-up show on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.
